Uniting Capital and Innovation to Strengthen Digital Independence

Munich/Luxembourg – August 4, 2026 – Wire continues to benefit from growing demand for secure communications across both the public and private sectors. After Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU) urged members of parliament to use Wire in response to phishing campaigns targeting messaging services and political leaders, the company saw a significant increase in demand and attracted extensive media attention.

Uniting Capital and Innovation to Strengthen Digital Independence

"The recommendation by Bundestag President Julia Klöckner to use Wire's messaging platform has further increased our visibility within the political community," said Benjamin Schilz, Chief Executive Officer of Wire. "While Wire was already well established within the German Bundestag, the recommendation has strengthened our relationships with members of parliament. The Bundestag administration is actively providing Wire as a secure alternative to commercial messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Signal."

The company continues to benefit from growing demand for secure communications across both the public and private sectors.

A key factor in Wire's success has been the financial backing provided by Cipio Partners. The growth investor has supported the company through successive financing rounds, providing capital to accelerate its expansion.

"We often join companies as the final minority financial investor, helping them reach profitability and ultimately achieve a successful exit," said Diana Meyel, Managing Partner at Cipio Partners. "This is a segment where significant growth capital is required, yet there remains a substantial funding gap."

Cipio's investments typically range from EUR 5 million to EUR 15 million in equity, although ticket sizes have been increasing in recent years. The firm invests once a company has demonstrated proof of concept and the technology risk has largely been eliminated.

"We invest when the technology has been proven and the focus shifts to scaling the business," Meyel explained. "We look for B2B companies with strong growth potential, typically growing at 30 to 60 percent annually rather than necessarily doubling every year. We also recognise that companies may have gone through periods of consolidation with little or no growth. What matters is a strong learning curve, a scalable business model and the ability to create long-term value."

Cipio Partners has itself been strengthened through an investment from KfW Capital, enabling the firm to further expand its support for innovative European technology companies.

"Through our investment in Cipio Partners, we are specifically strengthening the growth of innovative technology companies across Europe," said Dr. Jörg Goschin, CEO of KfW Capital. "In the field of cybersecurity, we see a key driver of Europe's digital sovereignty and competitiveness. Security solutions that protect data, infrastructure and business processes form the foundation of trust in the digital economy.

One example is Cipio's portfolio company Wire, which provides secure communication solutions for businesses and organisations. Wire demonstrates how European-developed cybersecurity technology protects sensitive information and enables resilient digital collaboration. By investing in leading cybersecurity companies such as Wire through Cipio Partners, we are supporting not only technological excellence but also helping to ensure that digital innovation remains secure, resilient and sustainable over the long term."
