Cipio Partners is known as a leading international investment management firm in the secondary direct market. We were founded in June 2003 and currently manage several funds of early and later-stage venture capital and mid-market investments in various geographies worldwide. Our staff is based in Munich, London and San Jose, CA.

The Cipio Partners team is comprised of experienced private equity investors and advisors, especially in the IT, communications and media industries, and shares a unique set of skills, resources and expertise in assisting portfolio companies in the value-creation and realization process. Unlike most secondary investors (who take a rather passive approach to managing assets), our style is engaged and actively involved, very much like a top-tier primary investor.

Both in acquiring investment portfolios and in supporting our investees, we take a disciplined bottom-up approach to value and adhere to an investment philosophy that revolves around credibility, trust and value-added partnership - with vendors, portfolio companies as well as co-investors.

We are flexible in structuring transactions to address the needs and preferences of all parties involved. As appropriate, we are also prepared to provide fresh money to portfolio companies in which we have acquired secondary positions.

Cipio Partners currently has over 50 companies worldwide under management, representing invested capital of several hundred million dollars. For a number of these firms, we serve as lead or co-lead investor (in part even where the previous shareholder might not have played that role). For all of them, we fulfill a variety of roles, from formally serving on a board to being management's sounding board on strategic and operational topics, a source of "always-on" insight and experience, as well as a trusted advisor in financial matters such as a sale, financing or IPO of the business.
